At Kindred Healthcare, our hard work and efforts are rewarded daily by the patients and residents we serve. Not only are we thanked in person on a regular basis, we receive countless letters, poems and artwork showing appreciation. This story is representative of many we receive. In mid-summer 2007, Linda was laying in a hospital bed in Norcross, Georgia. She had suffered a stroke on her left side, which left her struggling to communicate with her loved ones. She also suffered deficits in mobility and activities in her daily living.
After spending many weeks in a Georgia hospital, Linda saw light at the end of the tunnel. Her daughter, a Registered Nurse, had made some calls and had arranged for Linda to be transferred to Regency Place of Fort Wayne Health and Rehabilitation.
Upon arriving at Regency Place, Linda needed assistance with almost every aspect of her daily living activities. Linda was wheelchair bound and required assistance with communication and comprehension.
After six vigorous months of speech, physical, and occupational therapy, Linda is no longer in a wheelchair and is ecstatic at the progress that she has made with the help from Regency Place of Fort Wayne’s therapists. Linda and her social worker have begun looking at assisted living facilities and Linda will be moving on to a more independent life.
Linda is very thankful to therapists. "I had the best therapists in the world. I wanted to die before I came here, but with the help of God, my therapists, and the nursing staff, I became a new woman." Linda will WALK out of Regency Place of Fort Wayne with the self – confidence she has earned and deserves.
